We encourage you to reach out to your local MP and express your opinion as to what the priorities in Canada-Ukraine relations should be. Please find below a copy of the latest press release issued by the League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC), outlining priorities for the Government of Canada in Canada-Ukraine relations.
As a first step we suggest that you connect with your local MP and schedule an appointment to discuss the issue of Canada-Ukraine relations. We highly recommend that you bring the press release below with you to reinforce your points. The press release contains the most important issues, which the Government of Canada should address.
You may also choose to contact your MP by email. In this case, please do not forget to include your full name, address and postal code to ensure that the MP’s office identifies you as a constituent and responds in a timely fashion. To find your MP, please click here.
Your other option is to write a letter to the Prime Minister of Canada, Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, based on the issues and facts outlined in the press release. Should you use this option, please send your letter to:
Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau
Prime Minister of Canada
Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2
or online at: https://pm.gc.ca/eng/connect
In addition to the press release, please use the following article by Inform Napalm when communicating with elected officials. The article provides factual evidence of the presence of Russian contract soldiers and regular forces in eastern Ukraine. While mass media in the West oftentimes refers to the conflict in eastern Ukraine as a “civil war”, this article provides plenty of facts of Russia’s direct involvement in the war against Ukraine and its statehood.
Your goal as a constituent who cares about Canada-Ukraine relations should be to further educate elected officials about the ongoing war in Ukraine and expose Russia's direct involvement in the conflict in eastern Ukraine and constant violation of human rights in occupied Crimea. Bare in mind that many MPs do not follow events in Ukraine as closely as members of our community, so the more information you are able to deliver, the better.
We encourage you to use LUC press releases and statements in all future communications with your local MP.
