AGM OF THE TORONTO CHAPTERS OF THE LEAGUE OF UKRAINIAN CANADIANS AND LEAGUE OF UKRAINIAN CANADIAN WOMEN

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the Toronto chapter of the League of Ukrainian Canadians and the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women held its annual general meeting.

This year's meeting featured a discussion among members regarding the changing landscape of the Ukrainian community and LUC's role within the community. President of LUC-Toronto, Mykova Lytvyn, reported on the past activities of the chapter highlighting the fundraising efforts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the FUDF Fund, support of the Baturyn archaeological project as well as the financing of the athlete Anna-Viktoriia Shevchenko, who participated in an archery event at the European Para Championships.

The president of LUCW-Toronto, Natalka Popovych reported that in October of 2023, several LUC-Toronto members were delegates at the XII Congress of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO), which took place in the Ukrainian National House in Przemyśl, Poland. She also thanked her executive and her membership for their active role and participation in several successful fundraising initiatives such as the monthly Musical Fridays, Christmas concert, and bazaar as well as the annual Vechornytsi. The AGM concluded with many statements of gratitude as well as an unexpected announcement. Natalka Popovych announced that the Toronto chapter of the LUCW is donating a generous sum of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000 CAD) to the FUDF Fund for the exclusive purchase of drones to be supplied for the defenders of Ukraine. Mr. Lytvyn and Ms. Popovych were re-elected as the Presidents of the Toronto chapters of LUC and LUCW for another term.
